How healthy/ safe are ear drops you can buy readily in phamarcies?

My ears are on the way out because of too much loud music without earplugs. I have been told that I need some, and as soon as I can afford some I will get them.

I have been getting mild tinnitus lately (ringing in the ears caused by not wearing enough ear protection when you go out) and today I woke up and the sound in my left ear is more muffled than usual with some ringing. As there has been the sudden change in the way my ear is I am tempted to go out and buy some ear drops from Boots or somewhere, but I want to know if anyone can tell me how safe they are as I don't want more harm/ damage to come to my ears.

Who told you that you should get ear drops?

If you have any worries then go to your doctors, if you haven't been already, as they will be able to prescribe you with something rather than you just taking a wild guess at what might do you some good.

If these things were dangerous then they wouldn't sell them, just take them properly and you shouldn't have any problems.

I still suggest you seek some medical advice if you haven't already done so

Yeah, i was told that I need earplugs. Problem is, I need custom mould ones and they are £160 if they are going to offer me full protection! I just wondered thats all, as I heard that things like those nasal sprays for when you have a cold are bad for the lining of your nose.

Given the sudden change in the way it is, I'm feeling more like this is just a build up of wax than anything, so hoping those will sort it as opposed to trying to make an appointment to see the audioigist.

Why don't you go into your local chemist and ask? Explain the situation and see what they say, it's probably your best option. They will be able to give you some advice and show you a couple of products that they sell. If I ever have any problems I just go in and ask them, they always do their best to help you.
