My parents are selling their business in march or may this means that my house hold income will drop from around £35k to under £25k and also means that they will not be able to financially support me at university. I was wondering if student finance England will take this into account is there any way I could show them that this is happening as if they look at 2015 for my household income it will show as £35k when really its much lower than that now. I want to get the largest possible loan as this will mean I will have to work less hours while at university

    Thanks,

Fill in the application with financial information from last year as usual.

Then once it's complete fill in this form to ask SFE to consider this years income and not last years if 2014/15 incomehttp://media.slc.co.uk/sfe/1617/ft/sfe_cyi_1617_d.pdf

If you underestimate the income for this year then you might have to repay funding once the tax records all go through next April - but you won't have to fill out all the finance for your 2017/18 support - these will be based on your household income for 2016/17 which SFE will already have - so you end up giving 2 lots of financial details this year but save yourself some hassle next year.

    Hi zaknaeem

This won't affect you if you are applying to start in September 2016 as we will ask for the income from tax year 2014/2015.

If you continue on your course it may affect you in the future years. You can submit the current tax year income details form if the household changes in the future years and we can reassess this for you.

    Thanks
