Studying classics at Oxbridge

So I'm currently studying maths, fm, French, Latin and Greek at AS. I either want to study classics or maths at uni. At GCSE I obtained 9 A*s and 2 As but one of those As was in Greek ( I just really screwed up the exam ). I studied a lot over the summer and Im on for an A in Greek at AS. I got 100% in the Latin gcse and I'm on for an A there too. Assuming I do get As in both Latin and Greek at AS, despite having these (and an interest in the subject), might Oxbridge be reluctant to accept me, both being unis keen on the highest possible grades throughout, having only gotten an A? Thanks.

You can't get A*s at AS. And the grade requirement for Classics is AAA anyway.

Your application success would depend on your performance in admissions tests, and then your interview. Your GCSEs are fine - so wider reading and an interest in the subject is all you really need to focus on.

Hey - this is more addressed to anyone who has already gained admission but I was reading the reading list which they post on the classics page on the Cambridge website they recommended 3 books: Republic, History of the Peloponnesian War and Annals. Whilst I heard from someone that it is necessary to read these, I have also heard from others this is not true - do these stand as an expected list to meet or are they suggestions... the page didn't really make this clear for me...Any answers would be brilliant thank you!
