I travel often and routinely order drinks when I do. I recently took a commuter flight which for some reason only accepted cash onboard. This is unusual. After ordering a drink and attempting to pay via credit card. I was informed they only took cash, which I rarely carry. The complete stranger sitting next to me insisted on paying (approx $20) and said, "to do the same for another." This isn't first experience with being paid forward. I must admit I feel compelled to do a selfless gesture equal or greater than the small one done on my behalf. Does anyone here have some similar experiences to share?

There was a similar story not too long ago.

    (Original post by Eater)
A deluge of generosity descended on a Florida McDonald's on Wednesday with a pay-it-forward chain that lasted through 250 vehicles. [The cashier] said the chain lasted from around 9 am to 3 pm. "It kept going and going," she said. "After the 15th car I started tally marking the number of people that were participating on a piece of paper and all the while telling each customer the same message.” The cashier notes that one particularly inspired individual picked up the tab for three cars.
