I am 24 years old and working as a construction project manager, I am contemplating on if I should enrol onto a 5 year evening degree course at uni of Westminister. I was up for the challenge and ready to commitment but friends have made me doubt as 5 years is a long time. I'm young with no children, news a better time that ever I thought? I know it will be hard but nothing worth achieving in life is easy, some advice please.....

If that's what you want, then you should definitely go for it. Friends will come round when they see you getting on with the job.

As an aside, Westminster has a pretty poor reputation generally. If you're looking at that kind of degree study in London, Birkbeck is much better and was set up to run degree courses for people who still have to work full-time during the day.

Don't think about time, it will pass anyway. If you want to go uni then go, don't listen to your friends. It's your life not theirs.

Definitely go for Birkbeck rather than Westminster - it is part of the University of London and geared for "mature students" - I am a Birkbeck graduate and couldn't be more pleased
