# HARD physics problem 2 watch

1. Q: A certain type of rechargeable battery is capable of delivering a current of 0.2A for 4000s before its voltage drops and it needs to be recharged. Calculate the maximum time it could be used for without being recharged if the current through it was a) 0.5A b) 0.1A
2. Do you know an equation that connects the two things you are told - current and time - and one other important electrical quantity? This one equation will solve both parts of the question.

[And although I know that everyone has different parts of a physics course that they find easy and challenging, this is not a "HARD physics problem" - it's more of an indtroductory problem to electric circuits.]

(c) The song “Nine Million Bicycles” by Katie Melua includes the lines, “We are 12 billion light years from the edge, that’s a guess, no one can ever say it’s true”.

(i) Explain how the line “12 billion light years from the edge” implies an age of 12 billion years for the universe.

(ii) These lyrics were famously contested by Dr Simon Singh in the Guardiannewspaper. He argued that the correct age was 13.7 billion years, and disputedthat scientists had guessed the age of the universe. As a result Katie performedthe song with revised lyrics.

Discuss the suggestion in the song that values for the age of the universe are only guesses.

Answer these and check the mark scheme on the internet, if you can answer something like this correctly, you're a genius
