There are some standard ones:

One I've always found useful:

Stephen F Roberts
I contend we are both atheists, I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours.

Came up in a discussion about the 'beginning' of the Universe and how matter can exist without matter

Good quote that, and thanks for that list Mike Uk. I will try and add some later if I get the chance.

Check out the AQA website - they've got a whole booklet with quotes in it. Check this out:

Oh...Christian Perspectives and Islam? I'm doing those too  Anyway, I'm not worrying about the Islam paper right now. All the quotes I'm learning are on the syllabus, except 1 (eye for eye, tooth for tooth) There are some which are on the syllabus but not on here. I don't consider them important enough to learn :P

2 most important commandments:
"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength." "Love your neighbour as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these"

Love:
"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps not record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices in the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres"

Marriage and Family
"Therefore what God has joined together let no man separate"
"Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord. Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged"
"If anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for his immediate family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever"
"Do not rebuke an older man harshly, but exhort him as if he were your father. Treat younger men as brothers, older women as mothers, younger women as sisters, with absolute purity"
"You shall not commit adultery"
"Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery"
"For the husband is head of the wife as Christ is head of the Church. Now as the Church submits to Christ, so wives should submit to their husbands in everything"
"Honour your father and your mother"

Equality
"There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus"
"The alien living with you must be treated as one of your native born. Love him as yourself, for you were aliens in Egypt"
"Love your neighbour as you love yourself"
"You have heard that it was said 'eye for eye and tooth for tooth'. But I tell you if someone strikes you on the right cheek, let him strike the left cheek too"

Life and Death
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet of the nations"
"There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven"
"So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them"
"Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's spirit lives in you? If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him; for God's temple is sacred, and you are that temple"
"All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be"
Wow, those quotes are great! I'm doing the OCR Philosophy and Ethics, but I think it's basically the same stuff...just with much vaguer questions (which I happen to hate, but the teachers prefer cos we apparently have a lot to say...right...). I'll definately have a look at that booklet in a bit...first exam in 2 days...argh!
Great quotes... I do OCR and they are useful for that too
are you doing aqa paper 1c tomorrow?

Those are the OCR quotes :P Just went through the specification once more, found some quotes which aren't on there. Oh well, can't be bothered to learn more anyway. Can use some of those for pretty much everything really. The OCR paper I'm doing (2A) is tomorrow morning, not sure about AQA. Still need to learn the non-quote parts :frown:

With the OCR course it is important to remember that they are looking for related points, therefore if you can tie a quote in, it does not matter what it is as long as you can relate it.
Yah, with the OCR Phil/Ethics course you can just go on about stuff and as long as you put in related quotes and make sensible points, you get your marks. Still doesn't explain my poor 79% result in my mocks. And before anyone says "79%'s not poor", compared to the fact that most others in my class got in the 80s/90s, then...yah. I have no idea what I'm gonna do tomorrow. At least over lunch I won't be distracted by firends, as hardly any do RS so they'll have left us (ours is in the afternoon cos of IGCSE maths in the morning).

We have to do it.

And it's tomorrow :s-smilie:
how did it go for everyone?

i thought it went ok..... i just got angry about the fact that i remembered some stuff when i left the exam room to write in the paper!
yer I know the feeling.
I didn't have enough time... never do... I blab too much!
I hated this exam...it was horrible, most of what I wrote was completely made up...I'm gonna get such a rubbish mark, probably. I'm really worried about it now! How did anyone else find the OCR Phil/Ethics one?

I thought it was ok. Which topics did you do? I didn't do the nature of belief because that fasting question was way too hard.
I didn't do the last one...I just made up a load of stuff for the fasting one. I'll end up with a B most likely...which my teacher won't be pleased about...he says we're all gonna get A*s, and at parents evening he said "you're in no danger of not getting an A*"...hah!
I know the feeling although I felt quite proud of myself when I said 'they value human life highly, you could see this in the saying 'to save one life is to save the whole world''.
Or something.

I hope I did well though, the other half is coming up later :frown:

You might find you did better than expected, as it is essay based so it is hard to see how many points you actually made  .

They have managed to create an RS sandwich in terms of exams. Also, "Save the cheerleader, save the world".

I had the most hideous computer screen for my exam. It was so bright and shook when I took my eyes from it. my eyes were watering so much after the two hours.
