I did really badly on my GCSE Biology ISA in November, getting 40/50, which is way below my expectations. Am I allowed to redo it?

You can, just ask your biology teacher. If you got a grade that's less than what you wanted, your teacher will probably let you have a retake because they'll want you to succeed too.

    No. The regulations http://filestore.aqa.org.uk/support/...NT-LEAFLET.PDF say:
candidates may improve their marks by carrying out anothercontrolled assessment appropriate to that subject, but notthe same one that has already been completed
If your school lets you re-attempt an ISA then it is guilty of malpractice. It risks having all the marks for its Science ISAs being rejected.

You can do up to three attempts for ISAs
each attempt has to be on a different topic from a different section (e.g. if you did an ISA on a topic in B1, the other two topics would have to be one from B2 and/or one from B3)
You can submit your best mark out of the three.
Hope this helps - I'd speak to your teacher about it.
