For GCSE I achieved an A in GCSE maths. However, I was very lazy and now I regret it. I now take AS maths and Further maths. I can see myself getting a's in both due to hard work. However, I want to study maths at a top university and would retaking GCSE to get A* increase my chances

Don't retake it, an A is an amazing grade for maths and top university accept an A. It wouldn't make a difference if you got an A* just be happy Wish you the best of luck in AS maths and further maths and I hope you get the grades you want!

Just concentrate on AS so that you can get the best grade possible - or better still, put the effort you would have put into a resit back into your AS and get an A*

Best of luck

As you've done GCSE would you mind giving any advice here:

Don't bother. No one would care what you got on a 6th from re-sit. I know someone currently reading Maths at Bristol who only got an A at GCSE.

It's not really necessary. An A in A-level maths/further maths is more than enough to show the university you're capable.
