i would like to go to uni without standard A levels, but i can't work out how many ucas points i have.

I have got/am studying :
All Gcse passes C or above (not sure if these mean didily squat anymore)
NVQ level 2 ICT
NVQ level 3 ICT professional
ipro + cisco ccna 1 and 2

Thanks

PS. As well as this i will have 3 years work experience before 2008 entry
Tariff points are listed here.

If you search uni requirements, some unis say that they will accept NVQs (mainly level 3), but in combination with AS/A levels or VCEs.

Somehow i don't believe that since, an nvq level 3 is equivalent to 2 x a levels
GCSEs definitely aren't worth any UCAS points and neither are NVQ level 2s because they're equivalent to GCSEs. I thought NVQ level 3s might be because they're equivalent to A-levels, and I have no idea about ipro and cisco, but if they're not listed in the tariff calculator, they're not worth any UCAS points. If you want to go to uni, you'll have to do either A-levels, an access course if you're old enough or possibly a BTEC, depending on what unis will accept. I take it you want to do ICT? Do a UCAS course search and have a look at the entry requirements.

Well somehow UCAS lists all the qualifications you get points from and an NVQ level 3 isn't on there.

I really advise you to do an access course, as they are aimed especially for people like you, mature students without traditional qualifications such as A-levels.
Doing some research I have found that from 2008 ipro level 3 will count.

Really the best advice is to send an email to the departments you are interested in and ask

UPDATE : I have emailed some universities that i am interested in, will see what they say about my qualifications.

Just to prove some of you wrong about academic vs vocational qualifications here is a reply from one of the uni's i enquired at.

"Dear Jamie

Thank you for your enquiry concerning 2008 entry for Network Systems Management. All our courses vary with entry requirements. On the details you have provided me with, I would be happy to offer you a place on the Network Systems Management programme. "

I don't think anyone said anything about 'academic vs vocational qualifications'. It's just NVQs (level 3) are not officially worth any UCAS points. But that's not to say that universities won't consider them, as you have just shown...

:ditto: All we said was that they're not worth any UCAS points, which they're not. But good for you if the uni accepts them anyway
