Saudi Arabia amasses 350,000 troops and MORE than 2,500 warplanes, 20,000 tanks and 450 helicopters, as Saudi Arabia flexes its military muscles at Iran, Syria and Russia.

Armed forces from 20 countries have gathered for the "largest and most important" military drill in the history of the Middle East – dubbed "Northern Thunder".

Many of the nations involved cut diplomatic ties with Iran after a mob attacked the Saudi Arabian embassy in Tehran and the exercises are seen as a veiled threat to the Islamic Kingdom's Middle Eastern rival.

The mammoth 18-day manoeuvres – which involve four times as many troops as the British Army – come as four Saudi F-16s arrive in Turkey ahead of a possible joint invasion of Syria.

The Saudis are not going to invade Syria. Not while they are so committed to Yemen, or without American leadership.

2,500 aircraft? I call BS. Without US involvement that number is just about impossible to achieve.

I'm also curious where 20,000 tanks came from, given that the US and Russia only just top that between them.

We're not questioning you, you're getting those numbers from the articles, but they seem entirely unrealistic.

The order of battle for those countries probably add up to those numbers, but they'll only have taken a very small number to the exercise.

I still doubt they have 20000 tanks between them. And even if they did why would each country take their entire stock (assuming none are broken down or in refit) to an exercise. This is propaganda.

Remember, a tank can also basically be an armoured vehicle, peoples sometimes mistakenly think of a main battle tank when they think of tanks and forget that there are various types of tanks.

I agree the idea they have that many standard tanks is hilarious
