    hi!

i take art, media & french at a level (predicted AAC) and i did art, music, drama & french at gcse (achieved A*AABBBBBB)

is there any chance of me being able to study history of art at uni straight after a levels or would it be worth taking a gap year to study an extra qualification in history of art? my college don't offer history of art and neither did my high school

just wanted to know how you people would approach this as history of art is something i have my heart set on doing and i'll do whatever it takes

i think you should look at the different unis that you want to apply to and see if history of art a-level is a requirement. unis don't usually depend requirements on gcse's, but rather on a-levels. some unis might be fine with an art a-level for history of art and others might ask for other a-levels or non-specific ones at all, so check each uni's entry requirements separately

As History of Art is not commonly offered by schools and colleges, universities recognise this and don't generally require it. UEA for instance just require a humanities subject, Leeds says AAB from any subject and Birmingham just say ABB.

You shouldn't need to take a year out. I originally applied and got an offer for English at York and asked to change to art history/English and they obliged no questions asked. I have no qualifications at all for art history but they were chill with me doing it...
