I'm Asian and in all my A level classes I'm the only non-white person in them. At times I feel extremely isolated and I don't know why because I get along with the people in my class and my teachers try their best to involve me. I know at university things change but these last few months of my A levels have really started to get me down.

And it's worse because I can't even relate to other Asians in my sixth form because they're southern Asian and i'm eastern Asian. I don't know why I feel such a yearning to meet or make friends with other eastern Asians because all my friends are white.

It's just an epiphany that hit me a few days ago, growing up 'different' I suppose. I know I should feel happy I was brought up in a liberal and advanced country like the UK. But a part of me envies the communal feel students in Asia feel because they're all of the same race and culture. I wish I sometimes had that.

    Can anyone relate to this?
