Do I need to tick income assessed and non-income assessed?

I am confused. I want to apply for income assessed financial help but do I have to also tick the non-income assessed boxes and apply for the income assessed stuff in addition to the non-income assessed? This is what I think is right but I can't find any confirmation of this in the notes that accompany the loan forms. Also, if I am applying for both the non-income and the income assessed, does this mean I have the income assessed deadline?

You only make 1 application, assessed or non-assessed.

I want to apply for income assessed financial help

So click "income assessed"

Only tick income-assessed and the deadline is the end of May.

Oh. Cos I thought that everyone had to tick non-income assessed so that they got the base amount and income assessed was just like, £1000 extra or something. The thing is, I'm worried that if I just tick 'income assessed' I will only get like, £1000.

No, if you chose non-income assessed you'd get about 3300 and that's it.

If you apply for income-assessed you'd automatically get 3300 AND somewhere between 0 and 1200 extra depending on your parents income.

I was wondering this, too, because doesn't it say "do you ALSO want to apply for income-assessed" or something?

*******s, I think I ticked both >.<
The paper form I'm staring at with tears of frustration in my eyes (joke.. only just though ) says:

Maintenance Loan:
Do you wish to apply for a non income assessed Maintenance Loan?
Yes/No

Additional Maintenance Loan:
If you have ticked Yes to apply for nonincome assessed loan above you may also be eligible to receive an additional amount of Maintenance Loan depending on your household income.
Do you wish to be assessed for an additional amount of Maintenance Loan?
Yes/No.

So, if I want to be income assessed I choose Yes, Yes

...right? :s-smilie:

Thats what im also confused about....the questions implies that if you only tick income assesed you'll only get the 'extra'...
Otherwise why would people tick yes, yes? Surely it's the same as ticking no, yes...
I'm soooo confused.....

Yeah that is sooo true arabella and rainbow! I'm so glad we've got 'til June 29th! Is there anyone who is in their first year (so is therefore under the same student finance system as us) who can tell us whether to tick yes yes or no yes?

yeah i were stumped by those questions too...i decided to tick Yes, Yes at the end.
I ticked yes and yes and now I've got forms through saying I haven't applied for a maintanence loan or a tuition fee loan. I'm sure I applied for everything.
Perhaps they're just trying to bankrupt me through stamps.

ask your tutor it will be alot easier, that what the are there for..to help..?
Im up in Scotland and I ticked both because here, since we dont pay fees (if you remember to tick the box lol) we get an income assessed bursary (mine's about £2400 because Im poor lol and its obviously non-repayable) and an additional loan of about £500. Obviously if your family is richer you get a smaller income assessed thing and in fact I think above a certain threshold you only get a larger loan and no bursary. Im so glad we get away without paying fees - dont know if I could afford to go if we had to pay the fees!

Anyway, point is, I ticked both boxes

Yeah I thought it was the end of June cos that's what it says on the form but I've heard several people talking about May 25th as the deadline  I can't get it in then anyway cos I'm waiting for a letter from my doctor that I need to send with my loan application. Oh well!
