What do you define as fitness?

Generally, a sensible diet, regular cardiovascular work and resistance training are always good things to do.

Jogging will sort out legs and cardiovascular system. Crunches, a few every day, will tone the stomach.

Indeed. Do cardiovascular work regularly, perhaps using interval training.

Meanwhile, eat sensibly. You may want to cut down slightly on carbs and up the protein.

Do resistance training. Specifically target the lower body muscles. If you have weights, great. Squats are a great exercise.

You should be pleased The worst is after doing squats/other leg exercises and you cant actually walk for 3-4days. Your legs just give away as youre walking along, you have to walk with your legs straight rater than bent, you look like a total SPACKER.
