Did you do three subjects at AS? If so (if you are willing to say) what grades did you get? What offers did you get & did you get into a Russell Group University?

Most unis ask for three A levels. It's pretty normal to have just three, especially because people drop the forth subject for A2 year.

Besides, it's not necessary to go to a Russell Group university. It's definitely the case that non Russell Groups are not a consolation prize.

A little out of the norm but I have received four offers from four RG universities without ever doing GCSE and taking three A levels this summer (AS and A2) as a private candidate. I was told by every university they only cared about A level grades and if applicable an admissions test result.

With A level reform most universities are stating that there's no disadvantage to only taking 3 subjects at A level - have a look on different university websites for their statements on A level reform. Although it'd be worth looking into whether you could also do the EPQ - it's worth more than an AS level, you can schedule it when you've got time, you can specifically chose a topic relevant to the subject you want to study at university and a lot of RG universities will take it into account or even include it in your offer.

I got an E in my fourth AS (which is worse than no AS at all I'd say) and got offers from 4 RG universities (Durham, Liverpool, York, and Exeter) . You do not need a fourth unless explicitly stated.
