I receive maintenance loan of 8k but my accomodation costs 6700 leaving me 1300 to live off until I find a job. How much does the average student need to live off per year? Does anyone know how often my maintenance loan gets paid

Presumably your rent is catered, because ouch £6700, I have a loan of just over £5000 and it JUST covers my accommodation.

It depends on your life style. I spend about £50 a week, but that's because I am self catered so have to pay for food, otherwise it's just laundry costs, the occasional bus, and a treat here or there.

If you are a 'party animal' expect to burn through a LOT more. I know people who spend £50 on one night out. It honestly depends on how careful you are with your money. I know people with £3 left of their overdraft because they go out so much.

Your loan will be paid in three instalments. One in early/mid september usually, once in early/mid january and I think it's about March/April time the third instalment is paid.
