Is it possible to take GCSEs in Year 9? Also, can you retake GCSEs once you've done them or is this not possible?

    Thanks,
    Harry

you can't take GCSEs in year 9; you have to cover the content of the GCSEs which will be taught in yr 10 and 11. Also you can retake the exams if you didn't pass the exam
For English and maths- you have to achieve a C grade if you didn't then you have to retake them
but if you didn't pass science for example and you wanted to do in A levels then you can retake the science and then do A levels

maybe then ask your teacher would help
but i still think that the GCSE is 2 yr course so you have to do 2 yr and then the GCSE exams

yeo I took Spanish in year 9, just ask your school or look into how to do it 'independently' lol

yeah in theory you can retake, but if you're not confident you'll get an A* I don't think there's much point (as in, if you can get an A* later, why would you do it early and get less ygm)

    anyway yeah, good luck

EDIT: I did maths in year 10 as well, so taking them not in year 11 is possible

I think your teachers mean you're starting to cover the course content in year 9 , not actually taking your exams. My friend at another school started their GCSEs in year 9 too. Some schools do this so it gives you more time to cover everything.

The same friend took one of their exams early, Citizenship, but they're taking the rest of their exams at the end of year 11.

Unless you mean languages, your teachers probably just mean that you're starting to go through GCSE stuff but that your actual exams will be at the end of year 11. At my school people who are bilingual sometimes take their GCSE in their mother tongue in year 9.

Don't panic though! You won't take actual exams in year 9 unless your teachers say you will I would just double check with them when you can.

    Hope this helps!
