Nay, on the basis that while Labour can fill 14 or 15 seats easily, we cannot fill 17 which is the number we would have got had there been 60 seats on offer at the last election.

It'd still be a separate amendment (one I'd be willing to second) which shouldn't have any baring on this amendment
Had this been enacted last GE we would have,

    Lab: 17
    Con: 16
    Lib: 10
    Kip: 9
    Grn: 5
    Soc: 3

I don't belive that labour of the cons could support that number. Which is 4-5 seats added which are suddenly empty.

Aye, it would be nicer to have a surplus of MP seats to give to new members to keep them interested but there is a conversation I need to have before confirming my support for this.

    1) Increases the chance of by-elections
    2) I'd argue we have the membership for it considering we have the Nat Libs now
Aren't the Nat Libs dead now? Haven't seen any activity from them since they became a party.

And a question: if this amendment does pass, will there be by-elections soon after or will we have to wait until the next GE?

Btw when is the next GE?

I'm honestly not sure. Hopefully they're stockpiling bills

Well, the seat increase would only happen at the next GE (Late April) and then by-elections would happen two months after that

However, if you take the Nat Libs into account, Labour and the Cons may only increase their numbers by 1 or 2.

Right, sounds ok, but it sounds like a double-edged sword, not sure it could work - - I'll be voting to reflect the wishes of the party.

Or it will affect the smaller parties disproportionately.

You guys vote internally and then vote according to that right? It's like a democratic whip

Surely amendments shouldnt be political, and you should get a free vote

I swear not at all long ago we were being told how you had lots and lots and lots of active members hiding, now it answers you are admitting instead it's just one, and you aren't even certain about that

Who would then win seats in by-elections. Again, if you wanted to solve that, change the voting system

You are arguing for this to happen. I need these measures in place to vote for this and will not vote just to try and pass a future amendment to make this amendment work.

I'm not sure what method would be better (I'm not well versed in electoral systems other than simple ones I learnt for AS)

Well we don't really, but if it's something controversial we should do.
Yeah we have a free vote for this but I'm not convinced about increasing it

It came from the same people who tell us constantly how the government is super active internally and there is about to be a massive surge in output all the time

We have james, legal eagle, anon, another mp I believe leave, and saorise was banned. That is a loss of five members, we have managed to replace every seat emptied, and still have members who are not mps, we could manage a couple more seats
