Reply 21

i go to stupid waingels, in reading! they don't even have english A2, urgh. i really wish i could do philosophy, i certainly would have bothered to learn stuff instead of sleeping with my eyes open like in the psychology class!
Good luck with philosophy tomorrow  i haven't started revising for psychology yet, lol
edit: your Sussex offer is high! 38 points!

Reply 22

Ah that sucks. Yeha Sussex is really highly rated for English joint honours courses, they have a system called HUMS electives whereby you can choose to study aspects of politics, sociology, film, philosophy, history etc. So thats why I chose it  Good luck with the rest of ur IB

edit: osmosis dude, you want a baby?!?!

Hmm... no. Well, I suppose if you time it right, you could be pregnant during the exams, and then get an abortion as soon as you're done.

Sorted.

Ooh, does this rule mean you could get 46 IB points in total? The possibilities...

Reply 24

lol, man that's brutal... i'd rather kill my parents  if 2 of them die does that mean i get 2 extra points?

Or if both parents die, and you get pregnant with twins. 4 bonus points?

Reply 26

 that's awesome man!!

Talk about black humour...
Oh I miss these kinds of talks. We used to have talks like this in my Geog class. A way we came up with to save the fuel resource for the world was to burn dead bodies as a fuel....

Oh my.. :s-smilie:
This is going into a rather sickening and morbid direction..

...

So wait... if your parents die, you're pregnant with twins, then have a miscarriage, will you get 6 bonus points?

*pukes*
*tries to stop contemplating*
*tries really hard*

Edit: It's like having a human sacrifice for an IB point each. This is why some US school banned the IB for being blasphemous.

 as I said, black humour.

Yes, I can see IB stress has pushed you guys to this...

*runs away from these mad people*

And the other way in which to get extra points is to get pregnant, apparently. I don't know if it's true though. But if it is (and you're female, you'd probably have problems with this if you were a guy) then why not. Pft, what's a baby when you can go from a 36 to a 37!!!! (yes yes, I'm kidding)

Actually, that's not that far-fetched. I know two girls that are pregnant. One is Diploma, the other's going for 5 Certificates. Then again, I live in a different world than most IB Students (see: "How grreat is your IB School" Thread). I think if I get pregnant, I should get two extra points. If I bring it to term, that should be three.

Actually, if you're taking IB in the Southern Hemispshere, there is a time in the Jewish Calendar where you're not supposed to listen to any music (from like July to August), which I imagine would greatly affect one's IB Music scores...

timing is quite off but has Nov exams ever fell on Ramadan? Would you get special consideration if you're Muslim then? I mean, you can't even drink water and under all that stress?

Reply 32

Actually IB takes into consideration worldly religions...
any notices there are NO exams on Friday afternoons? Doesn't the Jewish holy day start the friday afternoon? Conicidence? Idon't think so...

Going back to the special considerations issue, some people at my school had a certificate for ADD or something of the sorts and get half an hour extra on all of the exams.
one girl who doesn't even need any special cons got to do her english exams on a COMPUTER. Yes, on a computer!!!!! THAT i think is unfair. i'm sorry, but i do.

What if your whole family faked their own deaths, you got 3 extra points, and then the ib found out. Would they take them away, or could you say that at the time, you really thought they were dead?
Worth trying... ?

Reply 33

At the time you really thought they were dead?

Yes I've heard about some people getting to do their exams on a computer...that is kinda unfair, I know. You can write so much more on the computer since typing is faster than writing.

Reply 34

some girl got extra time on her chem paper ONE because she "can't write fast"... this was a multiple choice paper. i fail to see the logic.

Reply 35

A guy gets a computer at my school because "his handwriting is illegible". So is mine, and I just WRITE BIG.

Reply 36

I had the option of writing on a computer but I didn't want to because I find my writing is much more cohensive when I handwrite stuff. Also to the person who said that they don't see the logic in extra time on multiple choice exams, it is more than speed of handwriting that gets you extra time.

Reply 37

bandev what did you do to get the special consideration? i cant find ANY info on the IBO webpage grr. is there a cut off date?
typing exams on the computer... ahhh that would be bliss...

Reply 38

if you have dyslexia or some sort of medical condition that would cause you needing more time in the exams, then you have to report this to the IBO (and present a medical certificate) 18 months before your actual exams!!! (so basically pretty much as soon as you start IB)

There's one girl in my class who gets 50% additional time - i think that's pretty crazy... but oh well - the IB decided that.

So, right now... if any of you are doing IB then it's too late to get extra time. Now it's just those "unexpected" factors that might be taken into account.

:wtf?: That's the silliest reason I've ever heard!
