I stand corrected. I find it quite strange that you can do that. Makes me wonder how many people actually do

I know it does seem strange and not fair to the uni you are at. Plus unless you were going for a totally different subject and playing the "I made the wrong choice" card I somehow don't think oxbridge would be too symperthetic.

But that said it is technically possible so if you are that desperate perhaps worth a shot?

If you consider you'd be paying out 3 grand in tuition and then another 4+ grand for accomodation, I don't thnk many people could afford it that much.

I adore Durham! No regrets here what-so-ever.

well....okay.... there's one thing that's been on my mind recently, but I suspect it would be even worse at Oxbridge.

I'm doing law. The course is so INTENSE its not even funny. We had exams every single day last week for 3 hours at a time. The again the following week.

Our reading is beyond a joke.

Our workload is beyond a joke.

All my friends on other Durham courses can participate in the societies and events, but we lawyers cannot. We are confined to the library, literally. Other lawyers at other unis (Newcastle, Northumbria, Manchester) have a much lesser workload than us. meh. meh. mooby meh.

I guess more than a few people could afford it - it would be no more expensive than doing a 4 year course which only gives you a bachelors e.g. languages

But technically Oxbridge will not know that you are attending another University. The moment you accept your offer, UCAS drops your file. For all they know, you could have dropped out after accepting an offer. Even if you ask a University to release you on results day, UCAS doesn't necessarily need to be notified.

You're social life will be what you make of it. You've obviously made the decision not to have one, it cant have been forced upon you. I certainly wont let work take over...........i hope.

:bawling:
Lol,yes, though she has been working very hard for her exams...which I believe she has now finished(yay someone to hang out with...I walked to Tesco today from Collingwood out of boredom and bought lots of beach stuff and hot chocolate...basically,nothing I couldn't have bought in town)...lol.

In relation to the thread topic though...all my friends who applied to Oxbridge said that they were glad they got rejected because they found the place to stuffy and felt they wouldn't fit in. I wouldn't apply to Oxbridge(I didn't in the first place),I wouldn't fit in at all I don't think...plus,I like having free time.
It can't be that much tufts. Goldenbarnes is a law student and it sounds as if he does f-all

???

That's weird, because in English you don't really get given work, except a tiny bit for tutorials (which you only have 2 of a term per module anyway). You're expected to do work and extra reading that you set yourself to give yourself greater knowledge for essays and exams. So maybe your friend needs to a) find more stuff to fill up her free time or b) do more work?

I know someone who does law here and he says it's easy. What year are you in, Tufts?
Hmmm... i fell in love with Cambridge when i went there, but i also fell in love with Durham.... and then i found out that Medicine was taught in Stockton! Nightmare! So i'm not sure... but then the atmosphere at Queen's is sooo much more chilled than at Cambridge - at the Cambridge open day, i got a real vibe that you were kinda on your own and expected to not need help - all seemed really intimidating! Plus, the interviewers at Oxbridge tend to know what they're talking about - if they rejected you, it probably is just because they didn't think Oxbridge was right for you, whatever the reason, in which case i'm glad i didn't get a place there!
Oxford and Cambridge don't accept transfer students, regardless of whether they come through UCAS or not.
