should i take a gap year or firm bristol/notts

i've applied to do economics at university and extenuating circumstances have contributed to poor AS grades,ABBB (Maths, Econ, Chem, Bio) but am predicted A*AA
i've got offers from nottingham and bristol but i am thinking about taking a gap year to travel and do charity volunteering abroad and reapply as i am very confident that i will get A*A*A in my a-levels
do you think it is worth me reapplying next year to unis like Warwick and LSE?
