I was wondering how the loans system worked for people in their early twenties. I am trying to get into a prestigious institution and didn't want to get in at 23, then find out I am not eligible for the normal loans the following year.
Example:
I am accepted into my first year at 22. In my third year, I will turn 24.
Will I have to reapply for an Advanced Leaner 24+ loan or can I stay with the normal student finance loan?
SO you're saying that I would still be eligible for both the student loan for course fees as well as the maintenance grant (or loan)
As long as you haven't been to uni before and you meet the basic eligibility criteria (residence in the UK etc), then you would get the Tuition Fee Loan and Maintenance Loan for your entire degree, start to finish.
The Maintenance Grant has been abolished for September 2016 starters onwards.
