    hi there,
    just one question regarding university tuiton fee loan. i talked to my friend the other day and he said that maintenance loan have to be paid back after finishing the course but that it doesnt apply for tuiton fee loan and you dont have to pay it back. is that true? many thanks

    No, it's not true.

    The two are lumped together as a single Student Finance debt, and you are expected to make repayments on the amalgamated loan. So all of your student loans are repayable.

    How much you repay, and whether you end up ever repaying them all, will depend on how much you earn.

    You make arrangements with student finance to pay it back. It still gets paid back via your wages.

    You will make arrangements with the Student Loans Company. The threshold for repayments changes based on the cost of living in that country, eg if you moved to Eastern Europe the threshold at which you start repaying would be lower.

    Unless you live in the UK it's not possible to pay your loan off via your wages - you have to send a cheque / similar for the relevant amount.
