Advice Appreciated: Mother's Day? watch

    • Thread Starter

I got one for my mum
    AND my nan....
So apparently this is a thing, so i'll go with it. Bought the card now anyway!

Struggling because i used to see my Nan at least twice a week but since moving house out of the area it's more like once every 3 months. Don't know what to write.

I also feel awkward writing my mums card because even though i live with her i don't feel we have a great relationship, not compared to how my friends are with their mums. I think my mum is my mum- whereas there mum is their friend kind of thing. She always seems mad at me, i don;t drink alcohol or smoke or go anywhere really other than uni- and i'm doing great at my course.

I just don't want to put the typical 'You're the best mum ever', because really- i don't feel she would think those were my words, but at the same time i don't just want to put 'dear....from' around the greetings extract in the card because my sister always writes like an entire page. They are so close.

    What do you guys write?

I hate my mother so I don't do anything.

My grandmother I write a nice card. In your situation perhaps write how you're feeling! That you miss her and hope to see her more often as you haven't so much since you moved away.

With your mum you can either write the standard "Mum, from GreekTea". Or perhaps write something in there to suggest you'd like to be closer? It might be easier to write a normal card and then arrange to spend some time with her?

If you feel this way then why buy a card and put pressure on yourself? Why not cook her some nice food or do something that she would appreciate?
