Lump in throat (blogus?) and constant nausea after antibiotics

For the past few weeks I've been getting a feeling as though there's something stuck in my throat. I've had this before, and it has gone away on its own, but it has never been THIS bad. It really interfers with my life at the moment..

I know that if it really is the blogus condition, then stress can aggrevate it, but I don't remember being stressed to start with. However, I now have exams coming up and need to study, but this throat problem is just causing me too much pain/discomfort, so NOW I am stressed that I can't do anything but worry. I've been to the doctor twice, and they didn't do any tests (Apart from blood tests, which were fine..so no infection) on me and told me to wait a while until it gets better.

I also had tonsillitis a couple of weeks ago and was given Erythromycin for it, and as soon as I had started taking it, I got quite severe nausea. However, I finished the course of antibiotics a week ago and I still have the nausea all day, every day. I'm taking Acidiphillis supplements as well!! Is it normal to feel like this even after coming off the antibiotics??? Anything else that I can do to alleviate the nausea??

Thanks!

It sounds as though you may have acid reflux which is irritating the bottom of your oesophagus and causing it to spasm which makes it feel as though you have a lump in your throat. Try taking Gaviscon for a couple of days and see if that makes a difference.

it can take some weeks for the lymph nodes in your throat and your tonsils to go down after an infection - that is probably the feelinbg of the lump in your throat.

As for the nausea, I'm afraid i don't know. first question i always ask a girl (dont know your sex) is 'any chance you could be preggers...'

Thanks! And no, I'm sure I'm not 'preggers' ! Argh, now I suddenly have a big lump on the side of my wrist. Why so many problems all at once?

I guess you mean "globus" (latin for lump) feeling?

This can have all sorts of reasons, for instance your thyroid could be enlarged. It could be stress related, or as has been said your lymph nodes could still be slightly swollen.

As to the nausea: when under stress you can have diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, sleepless nights and loads of other symtomps. Many people feel nauseous while taking antibiotics and take some time to "get right" again.

About the lump on your wrist: if it doesn't hurt I would give it at least 2 weeks to disappear, then maybe consult a doctor.
