For me, i don't really believe presidents have any real power to change anything but I would like trump as the president though. The guys speaks his mind without caring what others have to say about it. The guy really doesn't care, and for that I like and respect. Yeah, some words he says are offensive and uncalled for but at least he is not afraid to admit his real feelings and try to sell you his opinion to gain other's approval. Who would you rather have a president?

The guy who pretends he has no opinion on anything and lives in fear of what others will say or the guy that juts flat out let's you know his real feelings? You have to admit the guy has some view points on some topics.
Lol I disagree with this 100%. All you mentioned is his celebrity persona! What about his knowledge? Sure he knows a bit about economics, simply because he is rich. He only knows and cares about how to make the rich richer. So the socioeconomic state of the country will probably end up worse than it is now. The country and therefore world will be a huge mess. The U.S. has 1/3 of the global GDP. When their economy is ****ed, the world's is. Unemployment under Trump will skyrocket. I really have no idea why he's turning politics into a game and a circus all for his sole ego and entertainment purposes. How dare he.

I also want him to win. Not because I agree with his politics, but because I wanna see the melodramatic whiners on the left's heads implode. I'm hoping for a hipster/SJW/champaign socialist mass suicide. Now that really would make America great again.

And based on Bernie's current numbers, it's either gonna be Trump or a woman president, and no-one wants that.
I dislike Hilary Clinton, but that is such a ridiculous thing to say.

Back to the op; It would be entertaining to see him become president, but it is also a scary prospect that Trump could potentially become the most powerful man in the world. However, I doubt he will become president; Hilary Clinton will easily win (unfortunately).

So ridiculous, in fact, one might assume it was said in jest.

I'm actually very surprised at the amount of passion there is on a British website dedicated to students for who will become the next US president.

I have some thoughts on Trump, but I strongly dislike his brand of rabid populism - Which I doubt he even believes.

My opinion is that the US would be best served if Trump can't get the majority vote and it becomes a brokered convention. Then, Mitt Romney could be elected. I have a tremendous amount of respect for Romney and his very strong history of competent administration as well as his prescient knowledge of foreign affairs. Even his comment about 47% of the populace not paying income tax was just an off-the-cuff comment that was wrong by 3.6 %.(In actuality, 43% of Americans don't pay income tax)

The man was right about Russia and was mocked for it. He was right about the Democratic brand of nationalized health care increasing expense and families losing doctors and was mocked for it. During his time as governor, he dug Massachusetts out of debt, signed gay marriage in to law despite his personal disagreement with it(Due to his respect for the democratic process) and produced universal health care. He did all this and was painted as a woman-hating, gay-hating, poor-hating, immigrant hating(His father was an immigrant from Mexico) poor-hating elitist.

He was none of those things and would have been a great president, I feel.

I will definitely be voting Trump if he wins the Republican nomination; which I now think he will.

I doubt it. If Trump wins the Republican nomination and faces Clinton in the Presidential race he'll wipe the floor with her. She's not a popular politician.

Are you being deliberately stupid? Trump has the LEAST POLITICAL EXPERIENCE of any of the candidates, the fact that he speaks his mind is damaging and would destroy the USA's reputation on the world stage.

I think he is better than George Bush.

What basis do you have to make this guess, given that we haven't seen him in office?

I said "I think". Given the incredibly successful campaign Trump has made, defying all the odds against him (and they were numerous), it seems to me that the guy is very intelligent, witty and with a strong ability to improvise when facing a difficult situation.

Well he hasn't been in office for a single day so we can't make judgements about his presidential capabilities. And he doesn't make 'smart' decisions, he simply makes decisions, where in the same scenario, many politicians wouldn't make decisions. That's why people like him, they don't think he's smart or anything, they respect him because he says what he wants and he has no ties to large corporations. And he scapegoats America's problems onto Muslims, Mexicans, Chinese, etc... because it makes you feel better when you are told you're not responsible for your problems.
