Is Aston Lenient On Grades

hey pps i recently got an offer from aston for the course accounting for management and require 320 points and a grade B in maths which i am going tot ake in june.
wats the likelyhood of getin a place if you recieve ABB but C in maths??? or if you get BBB with B in maths??

would they let you of if u miss a grade or somin?
thanks

I would assume it would depend on what everybody else got - if everyone else met the requiremnets then they wouldn't let you in, if more people missed the grades then they would let you in to fill the places.

id say, from talking to people and stuff, that no aston isnt lenient on grades, especially for the single honours business subjects. i got BBB and didnt get in, they had too many people as it was, who actually got the grades. they offered me a combined course though (business and public policy) which i accepted. id suggest to just bloody work for it! cos i regret not doing that. xx
Eh I though aston were nice when it came to these things ...people who were offered ABB for pharm got BBB and still got in...maybe its just the subject business might be more popular than pharm.
Business courses are far less lenient because so many people apply, but languages and other less popular courses tend to be more undersubscribed and therefore let people missing by at least one grade in

I hope so too:mad: I ain't got no insurance and I love aston...the feeling of being turned away after your exams is just ...unbearable to think about.

...Why did they have to be so picky about the subject you get the A in? what other uni for pharm does this????

doesnt matter what subject you get the grade in aslong as you get 320 point.........if u miss a grade they may let you on but depends so rather not risk it n try to get the grades they want...

If the offer is based on points, then the subjects you take (and consequently gain A,B,C,whatever grade in) are irrelevant.

For example you can achieve 320 points through:
A (120)
B (100)
B (100)
or
A (120)
A (120)
C (80)

If you miss a grade, you won't have enough points unless you counteract this with a better than expected score in a different module. If I remember correctly, most (if not all) Aston offers are based on points as opposed to individual grades. So, assuming that your offers is in points, nilly is correct and you shouldn't worry about it.
You do get Aston offers wth required grades though, I had to get a B in German. If you don't get it, they may let you in depending on how many people did get the grades. As with any course, ring them up if you don't get your offer as soon as you can on Results Day.

Until then, try and stay calm and revise! There's no use panicking now or over the Summer when you can't change it!
i phoned and asked and they said what lee said....am screwed
I didn't have an insurance either. Don't take the "I'm screwed" attitude, do everything you can to avoid it! As corny as it sounds, just do your best and try not to get too stressed out. There's always clearing, or don't go this year and redo your A Levels, but forget that for now and revise!

Yup I ended up not making my firm offer last year, and didn't want to take a place on the other courses they offered me.
To anyone panicking about not making the grades, it really isn't the end of the world. I'm really glad I've had a year to work full time and save some money for uni, as well as having a chance to properly think about where I wanted to go for uni.
Resitting was actually good for me too, if I had gone to uni last year I really would have struggled as chemistry was like a foreign language to me haha  But yeah a year resitting one subject gives you a chance to properly understand it!

I think you are in the same boat as us pharmacist....-sounds weird calling myself a phrmacist I get a giddy feeling:p: -
What are your grade requirments?
are they lenient on the combined honours courses? Ive applied for Sociology and Psychology and need to get 300 points (either BBB or ABC) and im quite worried i'll get either ACC or BBC and not get in :frown:
