How hard is it to get a referral to see a psychiatrist? watch

    I am currently waiting for cbt with rightsteps, my gp advsied me to self refer. I know I need to see a doctor, I just think it won't happen.

    It is becoming more difficult now to see a psychiatrist, and a GP will usually only refer if there is suspected psychosis, bipolar, severe depression or a complex condition such as a personality disorder. Is there a reason you think you need to see a psychiatrist? A GP can prescribe common anti depressants and refer to therapy. If both of those don't work, your GP may look at referring you to a mental health team, where you may be seen by a psychiatrist.
