My GP referred me to see a Psychiatrist at me request due to anxiety.

I'm now worrying in case it will affect my future like jobs etc.

I don't want them to diagnose me as this will make the problem worse due to being labelled.

I think my anxiety is just part of my personality, and I don't think they can help me.

If I cancel the appointment, what will happen?

Yes you should definitely go, your gp would not have recommended it if they didn't think it would help you

It won't be on any kind of record that your employer can see. It won't affect your future career I promise

It won't affect your career and when you apply for jobs none of these things will show up. Nothing will happen if you cancel the appointment though - they can't force you to have treatment unless you are sectioned.

Nothing will happen if you cancel other than perhaps a phone call or a letter asking why? Not sure on that but nothing bad will happen at least.

Also don't worry about jobs. No employer ever has access to your medical records. I had to go through a DBS (the check that makes sure you are safe to work with vulnerable adults and children) check for a job and I passed it just fine even though I've been diagnosed with schizophrenia.

Your lucky as hell to get an appointment, hardly anyone does anymore without hospitalisation. Take it because if it gets worse then working will be the least of your worries

This. Take your appointment because getting another one is tough for some people.
