Lock Stock and Snatch. Just how all the sub-plots all end up tying together in the end and the big twists, genius.

Mr Nobody. It can be quite confusing, however I found it a very thought provoking film. Well worth a watch.

I recently saw Ex Machina. Would definitely describe it as an intelligent film.

Memento, off the top of my head. The Usual Suspects is also a contender.

I liked the ending and enjoyed the film, don't get me wrong - but the plot didn't really stand out as exceptionally 'intelligent'.

I guess the plot was pretty straightforward, but the ideas it brought forth were intriguing to me. Sidenote - another film which explores AI really well is 'Her'.

Off the top of my head - Timecrimes is a film which is probably more in line with what the OP is talking about.

looking through these suggestions usual suspects is a given, perhaps one of the best of all time, 6th sense obviously, identity was another good one, Arlington road and probably my fave, the original Oldboy
