I have to choose what I'm going to take for GCSE in a few days and I can't decide.
I only have 3 options that I am able to choose.
COMPULSORY:
English Literature and Language
Triple Sciences
Maths/Further Maths
RE (which is stupid to me)
These are the options I am thinking of choosing:
Latin or Spanish
Computer Science
History
I am debating whether Latin would be better for me than Spanish as I like Latin and there is no speaking exam or listening (I think)

I wasn't sure about Latin but it ended up being one of my fave subjects! I'd definitely pick that over Spanish as its a lot easier and more fun as the language is very straightforward and you don't have to do 4 quite hard exams. Also if you do Welsh board it counts for two GCSEs!

I'm doing my Latin GCSE this year and I'm really enjoying it.
I don't think it's as hard as Spanish, however Spanish is a MFL (Modern Foreign Language), and I'm sure that that overrules Latin.
Employers and universities will be looking for at least one language (I don't think they count Latin).

Don't choose Latin, Most Unis don't credit it at all.

I don't know about that, I think it's a pretty prestigious subject it just shows a different type of skill from doing a MFL it's more logical, more like solving a puzzle than memorising all the irregular verbs and such.

History is one of the best options I have chosen
. Computer science can be really stressful as a GSCE as there is a lot of work and pressure. If I was you I would choose something I know I would enjoy in doing and have interest in so chose latin, because spanish might be difficult as it is a whole another language.

Consider UCL, any undergraduate degree you take there, you must have a MFL GCSE of which they explicitly say they do not accept Latin as one. If you enjoy Latin then go for it, But it'll limit you in the long term.

They all sound great however, employers look for Modern languages, Latin is becoming a little outdated therefore I think Spanish would be a much better option for you. But at the end of the day, do what you enjoy, and go with where your heart lies. Everyone on here can have their opinions on your choices for GCSE, however it is you that will be sitting in the lessons and it is so much easier if you enjoy the subject! I wish you the best of luck with whatever you do.
