    Hi there,

I am a student from Northern Ireland, and I am intending on applying for Queen's to study Medicine as a second degree. However, I have found it difficult to find information on Northern Irish students to fund Medicine as a second degree at Queen's. The majority of the information applies to Student Finance England, rather than Student Finance NI. I know I am not entitled to any tuition fee loans for the entirety of the 5 years, or the NHS bursary in the fifth year, but I have heard I am entitled to a maintenance loan to cover living costs. Being 21, I would assume I am not entitled to the full amount of maintenance loan someone 25 or over would be, and that it would be means tested. I was wondering if anyone from Northern Ireland who has studied Medicine as a second degree could explain how much funding they have received from student finance NI, how they are handling funding, any advice, and how they are coping etc. As well as this, I would be interested if anyone could tell me about any BMA bursaries they have received, if any.

    Many thanks.

Having been on the phone to student finance NI a couple of times now, it looks like the only support we are entitled to is a means-tested maintenance loan!
