Older people are more likely to vote in elections and referendums. It's estimated that only 43% of 18-24 year olds voted in the general election, compared to 78% of older people.
What's worse is that this turnout favours the leave campaign in the referendum: mostly old people want to leave, while younger people want to stay - but older people vote more.
