I'm settled on en-suite, and I was pretty convinced I was going catered as well as it seemed cheaper and much easier, but having worked it out I'm not so convinced it's a better deal.

Birks Grange en-suite works out as £137 per week self catered, and £214 catered (up by £5 since last year). It doesn't seem to me that breakfast and dinner are worth the £77 difference.

Could you please give me an idea on how much you spend per week on food if you're in self catered? Also do you regret your choice of accommodation?

    Thanks

    Hi!
I'm not in the UK currently, but I've been living on my own for 2 years. I spent a maximum of 100 gbp on food every month (all meals, including coffee at cafés at least twice a week), and sometimes catered for my man. The months where I ate out more than once I probably spent 150 gbp.
Food is generally more expensive in my country than in the UK, so in my opinion - based on the information you've provided - 77 gbp pcw isn't worth it.

Yeah that's about the amount I was expecting. Thanks!

Don't forget the catered contract is shorter, though; so the real difference is more like £42 a week.
