Is he even interested anymore?

I feel like I'm living in the past. There is this boy at uni who I've liked forever and even though we've never spoken (I'm assuming he is shy), I thought he did too and at some point he'd speak to me. He tried a couple of times but it was mostly when I was in a group of friends which would go no where. Now, he doesn't even look my way and I know he doesn't have a gf or anything. Have I lost my chance?

Try to talk to him and see how things go. If he's distant and uninterested then yes, you've missed your chance. If he seems keen then ask him out for a coffee or something sometime.

Yes op you need to be the one to initiate, go up to him and strike up a conversation. Maybe he feels like he isn't getting anywhere with you as you are always with your friends maybe that is why he acts 'uninterested'.
