itsme!!
im no good at all at the basic stuff.I was just wondering,
tanx = sinx / cosx so does that mean 3tanx = 3sinx / 3cosx ???

and also how do you simplify 3tan2x?thanks

No if tanx = sinx/cosx, then 3tanx = 3(sinx/cosx)

You want to expand 3tan2x? 3tan2x = 3sin2x/cos2x = 3(sinxcosx+sinxcosx)/(cosxcosx-sinxsinx) = 3(2sinxcosx)/(cos^2x-sin^2x) = (6sinxcosx)/(cos^2x-sin^2x) = 1/(cos^2x-sin^2x)/(6sinxcosx) = 1/((1/6)cotx-(1/6)tanx) = 6/(cotx-tanx)
No they are not the same. The 3's will cancel out...
