    I don't have my notes with my at home so I can't really remember in detail, but I think it signifies freedom to Stephen, and also embodies all the things about Barbara that he's attracted to. It also has long vowel sounds, which contrast to the harsher sounds of 'Chollerton', thereby further stressing the difference between Barbara and Keith: she's carefree and wild, he's oppressive and strict.
