Need help on a Journey's End exam question for GCSE Edexcel E.Literature

Hey everyone, I found this question on the Edexcel 2004 exam paper for Journey's End and I'm clueless  . I did the question anyway for practice but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't get higher than a 'C' grade. Any help would be appreciated - I might try to do the question again later before I sit the exam on Tuesday...

"What characteristics of the officer class are explored in this play?"

Thanks for your help everyone.

I studied Journey's End last year for GCSE English Literature and achieved A* overall.

Basically the question is asking you about class. You need to focus on the "officers class" of characters like Stanhope, Osbourne, Raleigh. They will talk in conversation about certain things that people of lower class will not, and will have certain things about them that make you think "Ah! They're officers!". Osbourne especially I remember having lots of little phrases and things he says which distinguishes his class. You could also talk about Stanhope not being in control of his drink and is a workaholic - which is one characteristic of an officer, whereas Osbourne is down to earth and in control of himself and his duties. These characters are unlike those of Trotter (now a commissioned officer, but a former sergeant major) and Mason as they are of a lower class, so you could do a paragraph comparing the characteristics of them and the officers.

Sorry I don't have specific examples, I havn't read the play since last summer, so I've forgotten exact quotations, but I hope what I've written has helped
