Once you pass the interview you'll receive the offer and the offer is like 99% gonna be A*A*A or lower so 4A*'s is more than enough.

However with weak GCSEs it's hard to get the offer in the first place.

    Overall, it's possible.

Aren't AS's being scrapped, so even more emphasis now on GCSE's than before. I think you would have to have pretty good GCSE's to even stand a chance tbh, and even then.

What do you consider as weak GCSE's?

Like only a few A* and As. Basically i'm asking if they would take weighting off of the GCSEs due to 4 A*s

My friend got 4 A*'s and 6 A's at GCSE and then he achieved 4 A*'s at A level and got into Cambridge for Engineering.

He got the offer before his 4 A*s though?

All about the offer..of course if someone applies in a gap year with 4A*s at A level they will eclipse any GCSEs provided the necessary Cs are obtained..

edit: Although I see this is in the medicine forum, and from what little I know they can be a little more strict

Fairly but I am no expert so I wouldn't take my word for it. People who have been in this situation can advise better I guess.

Aren't you automatically pooled or something if you've already achieved A*A*A*+?

Anyway my friend got an A*AA offer for medicine at St Catherines with 8 A's at GSCE but pretty strong AS grades 3 years ago, so entirely possible.

If you have a good personal statement, referee report and excellent exam results in hand during your UCAS application stage, you will definitely stand a higher chance of getting a conditional offer.

In the event you are rejected, please ask for feedback because clearly there is a flaw in the admissions' process.

lol, sadly there are too many good applicants for them all to get places.

In medicine Oxbridge is very GCSE heavy so even with week GCSEs you might be at a disadvantage I would call admissions to see if any of your circumstances at the time may allow you an extenuating circumstance view.... But I would say people with 11A* at GCSE struggle at Oxbridge so your at a disadvantage that's not to say it's impossible

    Not for medicine IIRC.
