Some course prerequisites call for an additional A at AS Level. Do they count an A grade in an AS component, if it has been already combined to form an A Level overall grade (not an A)?

    Hope that makes sense..

If you have an additional a level beyond the course requirements this might count - contact the university.

If you're trying to use an a level as part of your 3 required & as the AS, then no.

No! It means 3 A's or whatever at A-Level (which is AS + A2) plus an A at AS...

Are you studying somewhere where you don't really have the option to take more than 3 A levels? If your study choices were limited by circumstances then often universities will accept an application without an additional AS if the circumstances are explained in your reference.
