Hi, I'm hopefully coming to Lancaster this Sept and was wondering what the catered accommodation is like, how popular is it and what sort of students take it up? TIA.

    Mixed bag, I should think

I assume you've seen this? The actual accommodation (ie your rooms) will be the same as for the other students living in that college in that style of room. The question is whether you would find being committed to having two meals a day, perhaps on your own, and in one particularly place, too restricting - and it looks expensive to me, at around £40 a week.

I'd say that learning to feed yourself reasonably healthily on a budget is an important life skill, and uni is a great place to start learning. After all, you can always choose to 'eat out' now and again - the clue is in the word 'choose'
