# M1 Forces question watch

1. Hi
Im doing an M1 paper (ocr mei june 2006 m1) and cant figure out what to on figure 7
I have drawn a triangle with alpha as an angle, and AB as the hypotenuse. Would i label the opposite as 147 to find the tension in AB?
Am i approaching this in the right way. I suspect im making a mistake because my answer doesnt match the mark scheme?
Thanks
2. Moved to maths.

Can you give us a link or a picture of the question?

Not sure why you need to care about the opposite? Just resolve vertically:

There is a vertical component (upward) of tension and a vertical downward component of weight
5. cheers!!
