So I'm hopefully going back to uni in September after leaving last year - I hated my course and my flatmates weren't exactly friendly. I'm trying to decide whether to stay or not because the university is only a 1 hour journey by bus from my home which works out extremely cheap compared to accommodation. However I'm wonderng whether it's worth staying or not in case I get a batch of flat mates like last time. Is it really worth all the money? Also, is it better to stay in same sex or mixed sex halls? I know nothing about Darialda or what it is like.

in my opinion living with guys is easier than girls, so mixed over all girls but doesn't matter so much if you're male... I've just found that while guys can be a little slobby they usually don't cook much so don't produce loads of mess and they're also much more straight up about problems/solutions so you don't end up with the same *****y dynamics that can come up in flats sometimes... that said it's pure chance whether you get good or bad people, there will be all guy flats where it's unbearable and all girl flats which are lovely to be in
only you can decide whether it's worth staying at home, in my opinion halls is a good experience to have and I wouldn't have wanted to pass up on that independence, but if you're someone who is hard to live with then perhaps you will find problems anywhere and it's better to stay at home, bear in mind you can change whatever decision you make in second year!
