Has anyone else noticed that the University of Leicester has sod all in the way of postgrad funding options (I'm talking bursaries or scholarships) for UK graduates? it's shocking.

There are plenty for international students, but literally none for your general UK postgrad applicants. How is this fair?

Unfortunately this phenomenon is not restricted to Leicester. Warwick has various full tuition scholarships reserved for Chinese, US and Indian master's students. Not much for UK home students. I heard this is something to do with international student recruitment and incentives for international applicants.

Like it or not, International students paying OTT fees are cash cows for the uni. Scholarships/bursaries are always very competitive and only a small proportion of applicants will ever get them. Offering them makes a uni look International-friendly, even to students who won't get, need or want the scholarships.

It's a technique to attract more international fee-generating interest, whilst paying out far less than it brings in. Essentially, it's just targeted advertising. You can bet your life that the uni benefits from it, otherwise they wouldn't be doing it.

Most universities offer little in funding for UK postgrads.
