I'm a year 9 student and I am just about to select my GCSE options. So far I've got:
-English language / lit
-Theology and Ethics
These are all compulsory at my school, leaving me with 2 of my own options. I am interested in world issues / politics so I am strongly considering choosing Geography and History (exam board for History is AQA, not sure about geography if this makes a difference) for my options, however I don't want to put all my eggs in one basket as it were with the humanities as I have also looked at other courses which sound really good such as PE and Computer Science that my school are offering. Can anyone who has done any of the GCSEs mentioned give me some advice as to what to choose? Thank you!

Yeah, I've finished my GCSEs and did Geography which I highly recommend as it isn't too hard and consists of some fascinating topics. A lot of people in my year did both humanities (geo and history) which is a strong combination but may be hard to balance as they are very context related. Maybe a more lighter second GCSE like computing which is useful if you want to go into something like that for a level and as a career. If possible maybe a language however they are quite hard especially if you haven't been studying them previously.

I'd really be tempted to take a language if I were you. I messed up my AS Levels, and got BCCD (retaking), and still got offers from places such as The University of Exeter because I had received A* grades in GCSE Spanish and Ancient Greek. A language really does help, especially in this day and age.

Thanks for your replies! I am doing French for a language (typed out the question in such a rush I forgot to list it - oops), will fix post.
