you tie them up, and toss them in a river.. if they float, they are single, if they sink, they are not.
Hmm...MySpace might work? If you can find them on there. Maybe asking someone who knows them, but in a 'just asking' kinda way so word doesn't get back? Also, if he's got a gf, maybe you would have seen her with him by now? Hope that helps

Ask in a roundabout way maybe? 'Who's the lucky guy/girl then?', 'A guy/girl like you can't possibly be single..' or something?

If they're taken, they'll take it as a compliment, and you can keep the conversation going without it being awkward, if not, you've got your foot on the ladder.

ask them if theyve got a boyfriend/girlfriend. if they say yes make it into small talk so it doesnt look like there was an ulterior motive

Ask him "what are you up to tonight" on a daily basis, if he has a girlfriend then the chances are that she'll get mentioned at some point.

Crappers. Umm *thinks* hmm. Could you bring it up in conversation? He probably would have mentioned her, wouldn't he? Hmm. That's all I can think of, soz :s-smilie: Hopefully some other guys will have some better ideas! There must be some way, though... Actually yeah, just read Jsuper's post, maybe try that?

Start talking about an ex or mention him/her, then just casually ask'do you have a gf then?'

Thats how I would do it anyways.

He's online now, but I dont know how long for. We're making small talk :s-smilie: What can I do?

so do you have someone back home?

;yes; seems like a general question, they won't suspect anything from that

And if he says yes, how do I come back from that one? lol

'Do you talk to them much? Do you miss home?' etc etc, turn it into a general conversation about his life back home.

Just bluff being fine online, the beauty of it is that he can't see your face/judge your reaction etc. Just go for it! At least you'll know

when you going to see her? :dontknow:
I would say something along the lines of "wow your girlfriend back in the states must be definitely missing u"... it such a roundabout way without showing that u like him AT ALL.. if he doesn't have one, he'll say so right away
