Speaker's Statement: Multiple Accounts in the House (Lime-man)Evening,

'Duping' - the practice of gaining an unfair advantage by using multiple accounts in the Model House of Commons is all too common and all too disappointing to see.

The recent issue of the user 'Lime_man' - who we now know to have previously operated in this House as 'James_Milibanter' - is a peculiar one. I understand the motivations for his actions and do not believe that trying to get a 'fresh start' is inherently wrong even if it should not be encouraged. Nor do I feel that, ultimately, any great harm was done. However, my attention has been drawn to discussion between the two accounts on several occasions in important, political debate. This contravenes the spirit of the House, and in light of this information an appropriate sanction is necessary. As I have said previously, had there been no concurrent use of the accounts I would be inclined to implement no sanction at all.

Having discussed the matter widely, reflected internally and considered precedent I have come to the conclusion that an MHoC ban is inappropriate given the intent and the end result. Instead, the following punishment has been decided:

Lime-man is hereby prohibited from standing in the next TSR General Election, nor may he join a TSR Party until after said election process is complete.

I believe this sanction reflects our shared commitment to fairness and good sportsmanship in this House. As Speaker Birchington noted last year, the Speaker's job is 'to uphold fairness at all times'.

If in doubt, honesty is the best policy.

I commend this statement to the House.
