    Hello all,

    (Asking this for a friend)

My friend is a european student from Germany and he is in his first year undergraduate degree at Reading.

When he first initially applied for student finance they refused him as he did not live in the uk for three years (only two years from the start of his course).

He applied for european funding from student finance to cover his tuition fees and survived from his own pocket so far this year.

Is he able to apply for student finance (tuition loan and maintenance loan) from this year as a second year student ? He would have then be living here for three years which are required.

It is just very confusing as I cannot find any information about that.

    Thank you.

The entitlement to full SF funding is based on your residence status at the start of your degree. This will not change, so your friend will only ever be entitled to the Tuition Fee Loan only.
