Futility of war in J/E?

The whole atmosphere of the trenches, how death is a common companion

Sense of how stupid the war was, when the Germans were only metres away

The irony that many young enthusiastic men like Raleigh were killed

How those in higher positions like the Colonel seem to have little regard for the mens lives

How ordinary men are presented as loosing their lives for no real reason

The whole escape from reality idea eg Osborne and his Alice in Wonderland

How the raid at the end barely helped, despite killing Osborne and Raleigh

Anti-war message. Journeys end is an example of just a few of the millions of men who suffered and died at the hands of the Great War, showing how futile and useless war is. They were the "lost generation".

Hope that helps, good luck to all fellow Journeys end people.I don't meet many of you :P
